2010 VE Commodore SV6 OTR Intake & Dyno Tune | +32kW & +82.7Nm

The 2010 VE Commodore SV6 is already a capable package, but with the right combination of improved airflow and custom tuning, there is plenty of performance that can be unlocked.

This VE SV6 came into RevHigh Performance Tuning for our OTR Intake and Custom Dyno Tune Package, with the goal of improving power, torque and overall throttle response.

VE SV6 OTR Intake & Dyno Tune

The combination of an OTR (Over-The-Radiator) intake and a custom dyno tune is a great way to improve the performance of the VE SV6.

The OTR intake is designed to improve the engine's access to cooler, less restricted air. Once the intake upgrade was installed, the vehicle was custom tuned on the dyno to make the most of the additional airflow.

Rather than relying on a generic off-the-shelf calibration, the tune was developed specifically for this vehicle and its modifications.

Dyno Results

The results showed a substantial improvement in both power and torque.

Before

  • 160.0 wheel kW

  • 331.6 wheel Nm

After

  • 192.0 wheel kW

  • 414.3 wheel Nm

Total Gains

  • 🚀 +32.0 wheel kW

  • 💪 +82.7 wheel Nm

Using the standard kW-to-horsepower conversion, the 32.0 kW gain is approximately 43 wheel HP.

Using the approximate 1.25 multiplier for estimating engine horsepower, that equates to around 54 engine HP.

What Does the OTR Intake Do?

One of the main advantages of an OTR intake is improving the airflow available to the engine.

As engine airflow increases, the ECU calibration can be adjusted to take advantage of the additional air. When combined with proper tuning, this can result in:

  • Improved throttle response

  • Stronger torque delivery

  • Increased peak power

  • Better airflow to the engine

  • A more responsive driving experience

The important part is the combination. Installing an intake is only one part of the equation — custom tuning allows the ECU to be calibrated around the vehicle's actual setup.

Custom Dyno Tuning at RevHigh

At RevHigh, we use the dyno to measure the vehicle before and after modifications and tailor the calibration accordingly.

For this VE SV6, the results went from 160.0 wheel kW to 192.0 wheel kW, while torque increased from 331.6 Nm to 414.3 Nm.

That's a 20% increase in peak wheel power and approximately a 25% increase in peak wheel torque based on the dyno figures.

The result is a VE Commodore SV6 with considerably stronger performance and a much more responsive feel behind the wheel.
