Tom’s Holden V6 Gets Woken Up – Gains Where It Counts!

Tom rolled into the shop with a clean 2017 Holden LFX 3.6L V6 and a goal: more usable power, more torque down low, and smoother drivability. After seeing the variety of Holden upgrades we’ve dialled in over the years, he knew we were the right team for the job—and we were keen to deliver.

🔧 The Revhigh Treatment:

To unlock the true potential of the LFX, we performed a focused combo of bolt-ons and tuning:

VCM OTR intake – better airflow, better breathing

Manifold porting – increasing efficiency and velocity

5mm intake spacer – helping with thermal insulation and airflow path

Purge solenoid – ensuring clean idle and performance

Custom dyno tune – tailored to this setup for both power and safety

📊 Stock Numbers:

Before any mods, his LFX was making a respectable 172kW at the wheels and 380Nm. Not bad—but these engines have a lot more to give with the right tweaks.

🔥 Final Results:

After everything was installed and tuned, the numbers told the story:

➡️ 204kW at the wheels

➡️ 451Nm of torque

That's a +32kW and +71Nm jump—massive gains for a naturally aspirated V6!

But the numbers only tell part of the story.

What really impressed Tom (and us) was the low-end torque increase, especially between 1000-2000RPM. That’s where you feel it in day-to-day driving—pulling out of corners, accelerating smoothly, and making the car feel more responsive everywhere.

Performance dyno chart showing torque and power curves before and after tuning for a 2017 Holden LFX 3.6L V6. Power increased from 172.9kW to 204.5kW and torque from 380.8Nm to 451.2Nm, with noticeable low-end torque gains.

Why It Matters:

The Holden LFX might not have the same following as the big V8s, but with smart mods and a quality tune, it becomes a genuinely fun and punchy street car. Whether you're daily driving, heading to the hills, or just want more out of your platform—don’t overlook the 3.6L!
