LFX Unleashed: E39B Commodore Cam Package, Exhaust & Dyno Gains

The LFX platform continues to prove why it’s one of the most underrated V6 setups when done right—and this 2017 E39B is a perfect example of that.
This build came in already a solid base, but like most factory setups, it was holding back a lot of potential. The goal wasn’t just to make more power, but to unlock a sharper, more responsive driving experience while keeping everything clean and usable on the street.
We started with the essentials—a full exhaust system to improve flow and let the engine breathe properly. Straight away, this removes one of the biggest restrictions from the factory setup. Pair that with a VCM OTR intake, and you’ve now got a combination that allows the LFX to take in and push out air far more efficiently.
But airflow mods alone only get you halfway.
The real transformation came with our REVHIGH Performance cam package. This is where the character of the car completely changes. The camshaft setup is designed to wake the engine up in the mid-range while still carrying strong power up top—something the factory cam simply doesn’t deliver.
Once everything was installed, it was time to bring it all together with a proper retune. This step is critical. Without it, you’re leaving power on the table and risking drivability issues. With the correct calibration, we were able to optimise fueling, ignition timing, and cam control to suit the new setup perfectly.
On the dyno, the results speak for themselves:440.6Nm of torque and 216.3kW of power.
But numbers only tell part of the story.
What really stands out is how the car drives now. Throttle response is noticeably sharper, the mid-range pulls harder, and the power delivery is far more aggressive yet still smooth. It’s the kind of setup that feels just as good on the street as it does on the dyno.
This is what we aim for with every build—real, usable performance. Not just peak numbers, but a complete transformation in how the car behaves.
And the best part? This is just the beginning for this E39B. More upgrades are already in the pipeline, and we’re keen to push this platform even further.
