The Mercedes-Benz C250 W205 is already a capable 2.0L turbocharged platform, but with the right combination of hardware and ECU calibration, there is plenty of performance to unlock.

This particular C250 came into Revhigh for a complete performance upgrade consisting of a downpipe, performance intake, ECU tuning and TCU tuning.

The vehicle was then tested on the dyno to measure the results.

🔧 C250 W205 Performance Upgrades

For this build, we installed:

  • Performance Downpipe

  • Performance Intake

  • ECU Tune

  • TCU Tune

The hardware upgrades improve the engine's ability to move air, while the ECU calibration allows the engine management system to take advantage of the additional airflow.

The TCU tune complements the engine tune by optimising the transmission's behaviour and torque management.

📊 Dyno Results

The results speak for themselves.

Before

133.4 wheel kW | 355.0 wheel Nm

After

167.1 wheel kW | 402.1 wheel Nm

Performance Gains

+33.7 wheel kW+47.1 wheel Nm

That's approximately:

+45 wheel HP

Using our estimated 1.25 conversion factor, that's approximately:

+56 engine HP

The vehicle went from 133.4 kW at the wheels to 167.1 kW, representing a substantial improvement in overall power output.

🚀 Why Combine Hardware With ECU Tuning?

Adding performance hardware is only part of the equation.

A downpipe and intake can improve airflow, but the ECU still needs to be calibrated to make the most of those changes.

With the right ECU calibration, parameters such as boost, fuelling, ignition timing and torque management can be adjusted around the vehicle's new hardware.

The result is a setup where the modifications and software work together rather than simply bolting on parts and leaving the factory calibration unchanged.

⚙️ What Does the TCU Tune Do?

The transmission plays an important role in how a tuned vehicle actually feels on the road.

A TCU tune can be used to optimise the transmission's operation alongside the additional engine torque. This can improve the way the vehicle delivers its increased performance through gear changes and acceleration.

For a turbocharged Mercedes-Benz like the C250, having the ECU and TCU working together can help create a more complete performance package.

🔥 The Final Result

This C250 W205 finished the dyno session with:

167.1 wheel kW | 402.1 wheel Nm

That's a gain of:

+33.7 wheel kW | +47.1 wheel Nm

Or approximately:

+45 wheel HP | +56 estimated engine HP

The combination of downpipe + intake + ECU tuning + TCU tuning gave this C250 a significant increase in performance while creating a more complete tuned package.
