We recently had a VF Commodore LFX V6 travel all the way from Country Victoria for one of our most popular packages — the VCM Cold Air Intake paired with a custom dyno tune.

Baseline Results
Before any modifications, the vehicle produced:
155kW at the wheels
331.6Nm of torque
A healthy starting point for an LFX, but as always, there’s more potential to unlock.

Intake Only (No Tune)
After installing the VCM Cold Air Intake without tuning, the vehicle produced:
134.5kW at the wheels
This clearly shows that while bolt-on parts improve airflow, the factory calibration does not automatically adapt to fully utilize the upgrade.
Intake + Custom Dyno Tune
Once we completed a full custom dyno calibration, the results changed dramatically:
192.5kW at the wheels
405.0Nm of torque

That’s a gain of over 37rwkW from the original stock figure — and the torque increase completely transforms the way the vehicle drives.
Why Tuning Matters
Modern vehicles rely heavily on ECU calibration. Simply fitting performance parts without tuning often leaves power on the table. Proper tuning ensures:
Optimized fuel trims
Correct ignition timing
Improved throttle response
Maximum safe power output
This VF left with stronger mid-range torque, sharper response, and significantly improved drivability.
